Alpacas are herd animals; they do not like being alone. They make excellent companion animals and have lovable dispositions. Within their herd, alpacas feel secure and content from supporting each other. Like alpacas, Norlander Sock Company also likes to support others and help our “herd”. We learned charities who work with people who are homeless are always in need of socks for their clients. Norlander is proud to donate the same high quality socks we sell to a variety of nonprofit organizations. We don’t donate a lesser quality sock to the charities we work with because we want the recipients to benefit from our naturally warm, wonderfully made alpaca socks.
Dignity U Wear, based in Jacksonville, Florida, told Norlander that “Socks are one of the most requested clothing item in homeless shelters.” Alpaca socks are particularly useful for homeless clients because of their natural warmth and moisture wicking properties. Norlander’s socks are durable and well made as well which means they withstand constant wear without falling apart. Norlander was happy to donate three cases of our Alpaca Socks to Dignity U Wear to be distributed through their network of non-profits in 43 states. Through our donation, Norlander Sock Company has become a participant in their 2017 “UNDIE Campaign” to gather and 500,000 pairs of socks for those in need. We are happy to help Dignity U Wear with their campaign and are excited that our alpaca socks will keep more feet happy.
In addition, Norlander wanted to help a non-profit organization close to our alpaca farm in Defiance, Missouri. Our Ladies Inn provides pregnant women and their children shelter and hope for a new life at three locations in the St. Louis region. Once again, representatives from the non-profit told us they were in desperate need of socks for the women who stay at their shelters. Norlander was pleased to choose colors and sizes specifically for the expectant and new mothers staying at the shelter. We hope our alpaca socks put smiles on faces and keep feet cozy for the women at the shelter during an important time in their lives.
Like our alpaca herd, Norlander Sock company is happiest when supporting our herd. We hope the socks we donated help make lives happier.
